摘要

Starting from an allegory in Jean Leclerc’s Ars critica (1697), the article investigates in which ways writing in literary studies can take place between the poles of mimesis and abstraction. The theoretical reflections are exemplified by two concrete writing projects: Peter Szondi’s work on the essay “Eden” (1971) and Roland Barthes’ work on the book S/Z (1968).
